Configurations & Mounting Accessories

Composite cylinders must be mounted to accommodate volumetric elastic expansion during pressurization. Prime provides certified mounting designs to prevent structural stress concentration.

  • Elastomer-cushioned strap and neck-mount clamping systems.
  • High-flow valves with integrated thermally activated pressure relief devices (TPRDs).
  • High-pressure cascade manifold interconnect systems.
  • Precision-machined custom mounting brackets to eliminate stress risers.

Operational Safety and Compliance

Type 4 cylinders are mission-critical pressure vessels. Periodic inspection and requalification protocols differ fundamentally from traditional steel cylinders.

  • Strict prohibition of any mechanical modification, drilling, or abrasion on the composite fiber shell.
  • Rigorous thermal operating limits (excessive heat exposure can degrade the epoxy resin matrix).
  • Exclusive use of certified valves installed with factory-homologated torque values.
  • Routine periodic visual inspection recommended to identify protective coating defects prior to fiber damage.
  • Certifications (ISO 11439, ISO 11119-3, UN ECE R110) depend on approved OEM sourcing.

Caution: Valve thread selection and torque must strictly adhere to cylinder OEM specifications. Damage to polymer liner threads is irreversible.
