Vehicle Emission Testing Laboratories
Executive Overview
Gas engineering, analytical instrumentation, dynamometers, and automotive calibration systems.
Prime Products develops solutions integrating gas supply stations, calibration panels, distribution networks, and infrastructure for gas analyzers and dynamometers in research, development, and certification laboratories.
CORE PRINCIPLE
Result reliability does not depend on the analyzer alone. It also requires appropriately specified and traceable gases, stable pressure, leak-tightness, and metrological control.
Functional laboratory architecture
Emissions analytical instrumentation
Analyzer platforms can be configured with different measurement principles for each component and range of interest.
| Component | Principle | Technical application |
|---|---|---|
| CO and CO₂ | NDIR | Measurement in low or percentage ranges. |
| THC | FID / Heated-FID | Total hydrocarbon quantification. |
| CH₄ and NMHC | GC-FID / NMC-FID | Determination of methane and non-methane hydrocarbons. |
| NO and NOx | CLD / Heated-CLD | Chemiluminescence measurement for emissions and aftertreatment evaluation. |
| Multiple components (NH₃, N₂O...) | FTIR | Simultaneous measurement of multiple components and species of interest. |
Dedicated panels and circuits
Calibration-gas lines should be dedicated and clearly identified. Improper sharing of regulators and valves can cause cross-contamination.
TECHNICAL DISTINCTION
In many applications, the appropriate system is a reference-gas selection and distribution panel, not a conventional mixing panel. Manual adjustment alone does not ensure the required uncertainty.
Integrated safety
Mixtures containing hydrogen, CO, and nitrogen oxides require a specific risk assessment, including ventilation, gas detection, automatic shutoff, and interlocks where applicable.
DESIGN ALERT
The presence of hydrogen does not automatically classify the entire laboratory. Configuration must be defined through a risk assessment and applicable requirements.
